Finally they gave consideration to training that workers receive and that the personality type of Openness to experience was one which perfectly encapsulated how a positive attitude towards the attributes associated with training these individuals was a measure of career success (Barrick and Mount 1991).
Their results though surprising were not entirely unexpected. They found that while conscientiousness was the most valid predictor for productivity and success in all fields considered. Emotional liability however did not factor in as a valid criterion to gauge the success of individuals. They also found that while extraversion results correlated with their hypothesis for the occupations of managers and sales, agreeableness was not a necessary factor for success. Finally their suppositions regarding openness to experience showed how employees who have a positive attitude towards their training have a significant advantage over other applicants and were more likely to receive the benefits for which the training was designed for (Barrick and Mount 1991).
