Blake through his songs throws light at the corrupt system of his society. People in the society have become senseless and inhuman because they are very poor. The parents sell their children for money and those children are bound to work in chimneys which are extremely dangerous for their health and can lead to their death due to absence of oxygen.
The poor children have no joys left in their lives but they have dreams of future that on day they would be set free and they would run in the shinning sun. The poet ends his songs hopelessly as if he does not want to give false hopes to the children as the angel gives to them. The end of the two songs suggests that the condition of the chimney sweepers remains unchanged and they would keep working under dangerous conditions with the rest of their lives and the vicious circle of poverty would not stop.
