An equation from my life can be
F(x) = 60x + 60
This equation can be used to calculate the number of minutes I talk every week. The F(x) in this equation gives out the total number of minutes I talk to people. I also have my best friend living out of town who comes to visit me every week for few days. Being my best friend, whenever, she is in town I spend 60 minutes each day chatting with her. Hence, the number of minutes I chat with people every week goes up when my friend is in town. I spend at least 60 minutes chatting with people every week regardless of whether my friend is around or not. Hence the equation contains the constant 60. For each day she stays in town, my total chatting time goes up at the rate of 60 minutes per day. Hence in this equation x represents the number of days I chat with her which has been multiplied by the duration of my daily chat which is 60 minutes. Hence according to this function, normally my chat time remains around 60 minutes each week, but if my friend is around for one day, it goes up to 120 minutes. If she stays for two days then it goes up to 180 minutes, while for four days my chat time can go up to 240 minutes.
