The sound in the movie was provided by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Garrard. The soundtrack was nominated in the Oscars. Gladiator’s soundtrack is one of the most popular and best selling film score of all time.
Acting:
The acting from all the actors were top of the class, strong acting performance was presented by the entire cast, but the performance of Russell Crowe stands alone in the movie. The depth that he has shown in the movie especially when there is a sequence in the movie when Commodous asks Maximus to remove his mask and show his real face and then Maximus turns towards Commodous and relies “My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next”. Among the others this is one particular scene in which the pain and fire of vengeance in the eyes of Crowe could be seen.
This is also proved by the fact that Crowe received the 73rd Academy Award for the nomination of best actor in Gladiator. Joaquin Phoenix was also nominated for the best supporting actor nomination.
