During the eight years of war, women lost their families, livestock, crops, and other forms of property. Most of the property was lost to the volunteer patriots, British troops and the loyalists. The consequence of the war during the American Revolution affected children and women most. Many women and children died since they were easy targets. In addition, the conflicts between the neighbors after taking sides of either being a loyalist or patriot, worsened matters. Most of the women who took arms and joined the troops died in war of from injuries sustained during the war
