The last theory which would be analyzed by this paper would be McGregor’s theory of X and Y and would compare two opposite styles of leadership and management which are used to influence the workforce. Theory X pertains to the concept of authoritarian management style and under this style most of the work force has to undergo the threat of punishment making them work towards the objectives set out by the organization.
The average under this style prefers to have safety and security above all else and is relatively less ambitious than the rest. In comparison to that, the Theory Y propagates a Participative Management style of leadership in which the leaders ensure that the people work without external control and that they are left to their own devices. The commitment towards work comes from the rewards associated with productivity and people usually accept responsibility under this sort of leadership style.
The intellectual capability of the person is however, not fully utilized under this style of leadership,
