Escherichia coli, commonly known as E coli, is one of the bacteria found in the intestines of many animals. The strains of these bacteria have been known to cause illness in individuals who contract it. The most common illness of these bacteria to individuals is usually diarrhoea. This however normally settles within a week. Some strains of the bacteria can very easily however result in serious kidney and blood complications (Juan, 2011).
Complications such as haemolytic-uraemic syndrome (HUS) are a result of these bacteria. This syndrome is a serious disorder. It usually occurs when an infection of E.coli bacteria gets into the digestive system.This E coli bacterium produces toxic substances that usually find their way into the blood stream. This kidney disease is signalled by blood diarrhoea. It is very common to the children and the elderly people.
