Organic food vs. processed food – Food is the basic necessity of our life, it is important for our growth and survival. We come across two different types of food in our life: organic food and processed food. Both have some benefits and some disadvantages. Organic foods are produced naturally without any use of any chemical. Farmers tend to grow organic food using natural methods only. They avoid using chemicals to control insects and try to fertilize the soil in a natural way. On the other hand, processed foods are produced and preserved using chemicals.

Food that is grown naturally tends to be rich in nutrients and taste. Natural foods like milk, fruits, and vegetables have more vitamins than the processed food. Moreover, organic food contains more antioxidants. The conventionally grown food has the ability to get digest more easily than processed food.

Organic Food

Organic foods contribute more in the growth process; it has many nutrients that are needed for the growth. Organic foods are also completely free from GMOs (genetically modified organisms), and, therefore, likely to lower the risk of common health problems such as heart disease, cancer, allergies and hyperactivity in children.

However, organic food also has some disadvantages, some organic foods such as meat may contain harmful bacteria, and when a person eat this meat, his is likely to swallow that bacteria.

Processed Food

Processed food is produced, packed and stored using chemicals. The scientist has produced many ways through which food can be produced within a short time and can be preserved for a longer period. In this fast-paced world, it is almost impossible to completely depend on organic foods, as these take their natural time to grow.

With the advent of biotechnology, it is now possible to produce food in much lesser time. However, this artificial process may deteriorate the nutrients level and taste of the food. Some chemicals are used to inject in plant cells or animal cells to give maximum productivity, but it comes with side effects.

The research has shown that the increased use of processed food is one of the causes of the increase rate of the cancer patients. Nevertheless, not all processed foods are harmful. Some processed foods are produced in a way that they contain a high level of particular vitamins and anti-oxidants like healthy cereals, protein shakes, calcium oriented milk.

It is highly recommended that one must read the ingredients’ list of the product when using processed food, in this way people can save themselves from consuming harmful chemicals. Organic foods are mostly safe and health promoting while processed foods are mostly produced to provide the only specific amount of nutrients.
